Luella grew up on a farm in Missouri and developed a passion for farm life early on. She earned an agriculture degree at the University of Missouri  and has worked with 4-H youth and commodity groups to educate young people about agriculture and how food is grown.  She now focuses on agriculture education program development on the national level and as a contractor to the beef checkoff. She is also the author of a cookbook and children's book series that highlights today's farm families and modern agriculture.

Her passion for cooking has provided the opportunity to shed light on commodities/ingredients and how they are grown through TV cooking segments and outreach on social media platforms. 

Luella's passion for writing has provided the opportunity to share stories in various agriculture publications, and contributes to a column and blog around food and agriculture. 

Her most important title is Mom. Her and her husband and son raise cattle, crops and hay in Northeast Missouri. Aside from writing and cooking, Luella enjoys gardening, music and spending time with family.
